Sad Farewells

All good things must come to an end, and so does our time together. A gloomy day mirrored our moods as we had to say goodbye to our new friends. There were firm handshakes and big smiles ... long hugs and teary eyes ... laughter and crying and wishes for a safe journey home.

Until we meet again ... next year in Germany!

Thank you FOF for giving us the opportunity to be involved with this organization. We have truly enjoyed every minute of it and were sad to see Simon go. It was a great experience for our family to see our lives through his eyes--not only to notice the differences but to realize that even though we live thousands of miles apart and speak different languages, we're all pretty much the same. I would recommend it to anyone. --The Johnson Family

It's impossible to describe the impact this program has had on our family. It was great fun to see our daughter gain 'the sister she never had' through staying with Michi in 2006 and hosting her in 2007. Along with Grace and Saskia, those four girls will be lifelong friends. It's not often teenagers say 'thank you' to their parents, but when Holly started college this fall, she specifically thanked us for letting her participate in this program, as she was easily able to overcome being homesick and jump into college life with both feet. We can't wait for Adam to go next year. Thanks FOF!!! The Sajko Family
